Meet Liam

My love for animals started just after I left school. Although I was unsure what field I wanted to go into, I knew I wanted to work with animals in some capacity. After exploring numerous avenues through two years undertaking an Animal Management course, I decided a career in the zoo industry was right for me. In order to gain experience, I volunteered for 3 years at 2 separate collections, working closely with a wide range of species. During this time, I also attended the University of Chester and after two years acquired a degree in Zoo Management.
All the experience gained through volunteering and everything I learnt during my time at university has helped me to develop into a well rounded zoo keeper and I am eager to learn more and develop myself further. My true passion lies with primates and my ultimate goal is to eventually work with Apes such as Gibbons, Orangutans or Gorillas. I also enjoy working with reptiles and invertebrates as I feel these are the species which are probably the least liked by people which makes me feel sorry for them and want to look after them! The main reason I enjoy working with Zoo2U is the rewarding feeling you get educating people about the animals. Every person that we educate, is another potential helper towards the conservation of species and there is no better reward than that.
